The analysis of Strategic Thinking on Strategic Innovation of SMEs (Case Study: Khazra Industrial Park of Kerman)

The strategic importance of SMEs in the economic development of nations, has been detected by many developed and developing countries. In many countries, policies to develop small and medium industries have become an important policy and Development of the industries plays an important role in economic – social development. The more a country has a higher level in terms of economic development, industrial development, The more relying on small and medium industries should be regarded as irrefutable fact. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of strategic thinking and business strategies to gain competitive advantage through the mediation of strategic innovation.  This is a descriptive correlational study clearly based on structural equation modeling (SEM). The participants of this study who were 125 managers of SME’s Khazra industrial park of Kerman, were selected by random sampling. Participants completed business strategies to gain competitive advantage questionnaire (by Lilly et al, 2006), strategic thinking questionnaire (by Jean liedtka, 1998) and strategic innovation questionnaire (by Researcher) by individual method and Reliability and validity of these questionnaires was obtained. Results of Pearson correlation showed that all strategic thinking, business strategies to gain competitive advantage and strategic innovation components are mutually correlated with each other (P<0/01(. Implementing structural equation modeling with Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) for relationship between strategic thinking and business strategies to gain competitive advantage through mediator variable strategic innovation tests, we found that the proposed model has a good fit and business strategies to gain competitive advantage is well explained by strategic thinking and strategic innovation. Also all of the model path coefficients were significant.
